Never Settle for the Minimum

2010 ASCD Outstanding Young Educator Award (OYEA) winner Brian Nichols has a history of turning around low-performing schools through a mix of strategic use data, collaborative leadership, and innovative education practices.

In the video below, Nichols shares his story and his focus on students: “There are a lot of kids out there just like me who could have their paths changed if somebody took the time to spend with them, the time to work with them, the time to see past the exterior and really get to what’s inside.”

Want more? Nichols discusses the direction of the ESEA Blueprint and what it means for the whole child, educators, and families in the April 2010 Whole Child Podcast and, in a recent Whole Child Blog post, he shares his thoughts on personalized and tailored professional development.
